My Screening Rooms top 10 Romantic Moments
I came across this while getting my daily cnn fix and wondered what my top 10 were. With Valentines day just around the corner, I thought it'd be fun to pull out some of these and watch again. You know, get inspiration for making the day extra fun! :) I like to celebrate the love in my life. And I'm not one to need to an excuse to show my love...I tell my man & my son I love them at least a dozen times a day...but love is such a happy and good thing...why not take a whole day to celebrate it??
Here you have it, the top 10 romantic moments from the movies I've seen & love:
In no particular order--
1. Moulin Rouge This movie turned me into a huge Ewan McGregor fan!! Love it when they sing the elephant medley on the roof. Michael & I have that memorized and we sing it to each other.
2. Somekind of Wonderful When Watts is teaching Keith to kiss and they go at it in the garage. You know how much she wants him & you want to kick him for not noticing it!! Love that movie. Probably the best kissing scene in any movie.
3. Overboard This is such a classic!! The very end when Dean asks 'Annie' what he can get for her that she doesn't already have & she says 'a little girl!' Oh that melts my heart every time.
4. Return to Me He shows up in Rome! 'You came all the way to Rome?' Grace says and then Bob proceeds to put his head on her chest to feel her heart. So sweet! David Duchovny is a cutie in that movie.
5. Just like Heaven I'm sure it's odd that I think the most romantic part of this movie is when David is talking about his dead wife--he explains how she would get the remote all gnarled & it frustrated him to no end--but you can tell how much he loved her & it kinda makes me want to cry. It makes it all the more romantic when he decides he can love another girl & falls for 'Lizzy.'
6. Pride & Prejudice (2005 version) Mr. Darcy could not be any hotter than when he walks across the field in that long trench coat and the momentum builds & you want them to rip each other apart. You know what I'm sayin' ?? ooooo la la!
7. Kate & Leopold They are sitting on the bench outside her apartment and she falls asleep. He carries her in and tucks her into bed. So tender and gentle and Hugh Jackman is such a gentleman. I'd have him over any day!
8. Phenomenon George knows he is dying & they are laying on a blanket outside. She asks "will you love me for the rest of your life?" He replies "no, I'll love you for the rest of yours." So romantic. The movie itself isn't that great in my opinion but for some reason that line has always stayed in my memory.
9. Enchanted Such a fluffy, feel-good-all-over movie. The whole thing is quite cute, but I love that first time he looks at her and he knows he has feelings for her. He's in his robe and she strokes his chest, with total innocence, and they give each other that look. Yeah...*sigh*
10. Down with Love Another Ewan McGregor one. I must really like him because I can't stand Renee Zelwegger & can still say that I like this movie. Yeah, I definitely like him :) I'm just gonna say this is my favorite romantic moment. :)
So, pray tell, what are yours? Give me suggestions for some must-sees in anticipation for V-day!

For Valentines I love to watch Chocolat. I can almost taste it.
I love Some Kind Of Wonderful. :)
First of all, your commentary is hilarious!
I'm a big fan of "You've Got Mail." When they're walking down the street together and he says "...I would have asked for your phone number and I wouldn't have been able to wait 24 hours before calling and asking, "How about coffee, drinks, dinner, a movie, for as long as we both shall live?" I think I need to go watch that movie again...:)
some kind of wonderful is my absolute favorite. i'd have to agree with you --it's the best kissing scene in any movie. one of my other favorite movies to watch is my best friend's wedding. it has the best songs on it too!
Maria you are so fun!! You make me realize that I need to stop and smell the roses. I love all your pics!
OOPS!! I just spelled your name wrong - Mariah - so sorry. I'm telling you I really need to slow down!!
I love that we have the same taste in movies! I didn't know anyone else loved 'Down with Love'! Amen to Some Kind of Wonderful and add the kiss on the dock in The Notebook :-)
SIGH:: I love romance. I love movies. I just can't remember any of them right now (no retention post 3 kids syndrome)
When are we doing lunch??
Some Kind of Wonderful is my all-time favorite movie. I think I need to watch it... :)
