What a couple of weeks it has been....we had loads of fun all over Southern California! The weather was beautiful (even too hot at times) & it was strange to come home and have to switch our sunglasses for sweaters & sandals for socks & shoes. Universal Studios: C-, needs improvement. Not catered to young kids, with the exception of the Curious George ball room. That made the day.
Disneyland: A, exceptional entertainment. We had 3 days here and saw and did everything we wanted to, we even doubled up on our favorites. Eli was on cloud nine as he trained as a Jedi and fought Darth Vader. More on this to come later.
Huntington Beach: A, what could make you happier? I love, love, love the beach. Our first day here I read nearly all day while Eli & Michael swam, built sand castles & chased the waves. Our second day here we got to hang out with my sister's family. I don't think getting buried in sand ever gets old.
San Diego Temple: A, words are not really necessary. It stands so huge right along the freeway beckoning everyone to come. I wish we could have done a session, I bet the interior is even more beautiful.
Legoland: A from mr. E & B- from us, definitely kid oriented. He was in 7th heaven. He smiled his way through this day with rides on boats, lego knights, lego cars, building lego people and racecars & seeing an enourmous display of lego models. He spent lots of time at the water zone too, the best one I've ever seen. Wow. He's still talking about it.
SeaWorld: B+, mainly due to our tired legs at this point. Who doesn't love the Shamu show? I mean seriously, it's amazing & with all the music and sentimentality they throw in...you can't help but be inspired to go out and accomplish your dreams. The sting rays and amazing pet show were also big hits this day.
Coronado Island: A+, beautiful, serene, relaxing. It was a perfect beach day at a perfect location. The weather was also perfect. Just enough sun to want to jump in the waves every so often & not be chilly when you got out. Everything was so picturesque. I loved this day. Did I mention how perfect it was?
San Diego Zoo: B+, this place is huge! We saw all kinds of cool animals & Eli had a darling adoration going on for the little goats. He couldn't get enough. He followed them around forever. My favorite was the tiger that sat right at the window for an extended period of time. The tirpas were really cool, too. I had never even heard of that animal before.
Reuben Fleet Science Center & Balboa Park: A, hands-on fun that meant hours of entertainment for both of my experimenting boys. It was a great way to chill after days of walking. Eli got to touch everything he wanted and moved from one thing to the next soaking it all in. Balboa Park is ginormous and had everything from beautiful buildings, cool fountains, and walkable gardens.
All together I think our adventures scored very high in our Wickham book of memories. It was a well-blended vacation of relaxation, adventure and activity. I read 4 1/2 books, we loved the accomodations we had, the weather was great and now we'll have memories of it forever!

I didn't realize that you did all that in two weeks. Wow what a vacation. What memories for Eli! I can't wait to hear all about it.
I'm so ready to go back to California! We haven't been to the San Diego area in a while, and to hear you talk about Coronado makes me want to jump in the car and go!! Glad you had fun!
Looks like a blast! I am envious of your time spent reading on the beach - it sounds heavenly!
WOW..what a great trip. Seeing mickey made from pumpkins gets me so excited for our DisneyWorld trip in 2 weeks. Kohl is glad to know that Eli is back and hopefully ready to play.
After a crowded day at Disneyland we loved Legoland! I don't think I have ever built a thing with legos and I was fascinated.
Glad you're back and glad you had fun!
Looks like so much fun. I've always wanted to do Disney at Halloween time. But we already go in June and November...
I LOVE the San Diego temple, and yes it's absolutely breathtaking inside! It's my second fave temple in the world!
Cute pictures Mariah. The beach looks so breathtaking... that sounds so fun to just sit around the beach and read a book.
Oh sure, tell us how cool the tirpas are and then you don't put on a picture of one?!?! What a great vacation ... good times!!!
So Fun! I'm kicking myself for not getting a picture of us together at Disney Land. That was awesome how we kept running into each other.
