Mr. E, you never cease to amaze me. You honestly came into this world with an extra dose or two of personality. I'm baffled frequently by your comments and observations about life. You never tire of talking and I wish I could stay interested 100%, but when you rattle off all the details of your favorite cartoon or list all the Star Wars characters I tend to drift off. It's not that I don't care. It's just that I don't have the same passion for those things. :) You make me so happy & it's truly a joy to hang out with you. I love your lack of fear and hope that intimidation never creeps into your life. Both your Nana and I were amazed while we were sitting at Happy Sumo waiting for our food and you stopped a waitress and said,
"Excuse me. Can I have a straw please?"
You did that all by yourself with no prompt from me or Nana. It was all polite and proper, too. I guess you have learned a thing or two about etiquette. Then later than night after we saw the play Jungle Book you were eager to talk to the actors. You wandered down to the stage all by yourself and asked Mowgli,
"How come your play was good?"
I admire your curiosity, confidence & independence. I wish I could bottle & store it for when things get a little rocky in the inevitable adolescent years. Even then I hope you remember what you told me the other day. I was pleading with you to act like a big boy because we had a party to go to where only adults would be and I didn't want you touch anything, run around, or most importantly, spill anything. You asked me so innocently,"Is spilling not a nice thing?" I told you no & then you said,
"Well, sometimes spilling happens. I'm a big fan of spilling."
It's true, son. Spilling sometimes does happen. I'm sure you'll experience all kinds of spilling in your life. Some from others & some from yourself {remember when you spilled that huge box of Tide all over the carpet? I do.} I will even spill from time to time. We all make mistakes. But I hope you never forget what you told me. You're a big fan of it. If that's true, you won't be afraid to clean up your mess, learn what is to be learned and move on. With patience and a good attitude the spills in our life add to our character and make us better people. You're starting to see the value of choices in your life as well. We started playing the 'Would you Rather' game a couple weeks ago. I love what you come up with. Once when it was your turn you asked,
"Would you rather go trick-or-treating without a costume or take a tire off a car?"
Now that is a tough decision. I'll have to get back to you on that one. For now, please know how glad I am that you are a part of my life. You play a vital role in who I am. I'll always have a listening ear for you. For now it's all about Star Wars and Batman:the animated serious {really it's series, but it's so cute that you call it that} but I'm sure one day it'll be girly wars and school complaints: the truly serious. I'm sure that's when your extra doses of personality will really come in handy.I love you tater {so named because it's short for commentator}. You are a delight and a dream come true!

He is a doll, I love the spilled Tide picture. He's so blessed to have a wonderful, listening mom like you to take care of him and hang out with every day.

Mariah, that was so touching. I loved it! I miss Eli already. Aaron had so much fun with him. Aaron calls his name frequently and Aaron is now watching Star Wars non stop.
Oh, I miss you guys so much. Little E DOES have an extra dose of personality, but so does his mama (whom I love dearly).
Love, love, loved it. You are a great writer. :) Eli is such a cutie. I will have to say he does say the funniest things.
What great memories!! What an adorable little boy - a gift from heaven!!
Amen! Tater keeps me informed and so does his Mom. I love you both.
