Us vs. the Concert Curse

When I was pregnant with Eli, we had tickets to see Linda Eder. When we arrived, an announcement was made that she had been struck with food poisoning & she would not be able to perform.

For Micheal's birthday one year I gave him Weird 'Al' tickets (Did you just laugh? I'm sure you did, because that's what most people do. But seriously, it was a pretty good concert). The babysitter I had arranged was not at home when I went to pick her up--we ended up having to take a 3 yr. old Eli with us. Not a horrible turn of events, but still.

About a year and a half ago, a friend and I went to Rascal Flatts together. That morning I was struck with the runs and it continued all day. I still went, but it was definitely not the experience I wanted it to be. :(

Then came U2. We were both so excited, but, Bono broke his back and we'll have to wait until May of 2011 to enjoy it.

I had not mentally put all these happenings together until we were on our way to the John Mayer concert the other night. Traffic was horrible. It took 90+ minutes to make a 40 min. drive. That meant that we missed the whole opening act--Owl City--which is in actuality who we went to see. It was only then that I started to see the pattern.

I had wound myself up in such a mood that I became determined to love John Mayer, although I was only vaguely familiar with his material. I wanted it all to be worth it. Even the mile and a half walk I had to make with a broken foot.

I'm happy to report:

It was.

That's awesome! I thought it was our fault - we have the worst luck sometimes in our world. (We were there for Linda that night too BTW! One of the biggest disappointments, EVER!)

So sorry for your curse! We have one with national monuments. When we went over 4th of July to see Mount Rushmore it got so foggy all we could do was stand at the bottom of the Presidential Trail and look up with people saying things like, "I think that is Lincoln's nose." and then when Dustin and I went to Germany all he wanted to see was Brandenburg Gate, but when we got there, there was a huge tarp covering the whole thing for renovation. So I know how you feel with curses!
