We've started our journey

I started this blog so I could keep a record of our attempt to give Eli a little brother or sister. We've been waiting for 3 1/2 yrs. and it's time to pursue a more efficient course than just waiting to see what happens. (I'm sure I'll post some non-fertility news from time to time as well). We decided a few months ago to pursue in-vitro fertilization. Both Michael and I feel good about this & know this is the right thing to do right now. I have started my month-long supply of birth control that prepares my body for what is to come. Although it sounds counterintuitive (I mean why would you prevent a pregnancy when that's what you are aiming for?), it will provide a baseline of hormones to start this whole process with. When my cycle starts again I will start going to the dr. for ultrasounds, shots, medicine, etc. to hyperstimulate my body to produce 6-8 eggs. It boggles my mind that my body will survive, but thinking about the chance to bring another spirit into the world causes me great joy!
